Kaneki Ken is a regular college student who lives in Tokyo with his best friend. After he goes on a date with a beautiful girl he met in a coffee shop, his life is forever changed. The woman is a ghoul, a man-eating, humanoid monster whose kind is attacking Tokyo. She turns him into a half-ghoul and lovable Kaneki is forced to do the unthinkable. This anime is moving, heartbreaking, exciting, and also a hit manga series!

3,2,1, CON!!!: What Cosplay?

What Cosplay?

First, I'll reiterate: cosplay has no boundaries.
Not only can you alter a costume to your liking, you are also unlimited in which characters you choose to dress as. There's always a way to transform!

If you happen to possess the powers to hand-make a costume, that's amazing! Making a costume yourself adds a bit of identity to it, and you will most likely see your creation as your child of some sorts.
If you are short on time and resources, buying costumes may be a better choice. Buying online in some cases is more affordable than making a costume, but the only downside is that you will most likely need to make some alterations.
Buying a costume doesn't make your cosplay bad compared to a hand-made one. The important thing is to have fun!

3,2,1, CON!!!: Why Cosplay?

3

Why Cosplay?

You've gotten a ticket to a con and you're super excited to meet friends and have fun, but cosplay? What if I'm not a top-notch cosplayer? What if I don't look exactly like XXX?

Rest assured. To cosplay, you don't have to be perfect. It is your choice how you portray a character, and you can go beyond the boundaries. This can be changing the age or gender of the character, and also altering costumes according to what you are comfortable with.
Though it's common, you are by no means required to cosplay to attend a con. Cosplaying as your favorite characters only adds to your enjoyment if you so desire. After all, you're supposed to enjoy yourself!

Anime of the Week! (12/1-12/24)

No Game No Life (Nogemu Noraifu)
Fantasy

Sora and Shiro are siblings and both have reputations as brilliant NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) hikikomori (shut-in) gamers. Their skills have even spawned urban legends all over the Internet. Unfortunately, these two gamers consider the real world to be just another "crappy game," and end up having the shock of a lifetime when they are summoned by a God named "Tet" to an alternate world. There, Tet has prohibited war and declared this to be a world where "everything is decided by games" — even national borders. Humanity has been driven back into one remaining city by the other races. Will Sora and Shiro, the good-for-nothing brother and sister whose lives are all about gaming, become the "Saviors of Humanity" in this alternate world? (UNREAL animation like so amazing)

3, 2, 1, CON!!!: MTAC Haiku ❀ April 14-16, 2017

MTAC Haiku ❀ April 14-16, 2017

Register for a Convention!

The first thing you do is register.
The nearest upcoming con is MTAC Haiku, in April of 2017.
Planning more than three months in advance may seem over-the-top, but there are significant benefits.
Anime convention tickets are expensive, and it's always in your best interest to register in advance. At-the-door tickets are much more expensive, and there's no guarantee if you'll be able to get in. By pre-registering, you can save money on the ticket and get better deals. The money you save can go to buying cosplay supplies or merchandise!

To register for MTAC 2017, please use the link below:

3, 2, 1, CON!!!: What? There's a Convention in Nashville?

Hello readers!
It's Sunni here :)
Why am I starting a countdown series?
Yes, you guessed correctly, it's because there's an ANIME CONVENTION coming up and it's never too late to begin preparations as an anime fan!
I'm a cosplay and convention nerd, so I start this series to give some experiential advice. Hope this will be helpful when you go to a con!

1

What are anime conventions and where do I find them?

Anime conventions are gatherings of fans and great places to meet new friends! You basically walk around the con area and go around buying merchandise, taking pictures of cosplayers, and meeting people who love the same things you love. Cosplay for a con is not mandatory, but it's loads of fun!

(Anime Expo, one of the largest anime conventions in North America)

For us, our local conventions are as follows:
MTAC (Middle Tennessee Anime Convention)
Akai Con
GMX (Geek Media Expo)
*general fandom con, not anime-specific*
Nashville Anime Day

For your convenience, I have put the hiragana and katakana charts below as well as a picture showing the difference between the alphabets.)

“They arrive in silence and darkness. They descend from the skies. They have a hunger for human flesh. They are everywhere. They are parasites, alien creatures who must invade- and take control of- a human host to survive. And once they have infected their victims, they can assume any deadly form they choose: monsters with giant teeth, winged demons, creatures with blades for hands. But most have chosen to conceal their lethal purpose behind ordinary human faces. So no one knows their secret- except for an ordinary high school student. Shinichi is battling for control of his own body against an alien parasite, but can he find a way to warn humanity of the horrors to come.” Taken from fan wiki
